Loren Toussaint
Forgiveness, Peace, and Justice in the United States

DRC Sponsor: Alan Lerstrom

This presentation will focus on the intertwined nature of forgiveness, peace, and justice in the present-day United States, where so much of our time and energy has been devoted to deeply-seated divisions between political parties, race, and gender. The notion of community forgiveness will be presented as one option for finding
peace and justice in our local, state, and national communities.

Dr. Loren Toussaint is a Professor of Psychology at Luther College. He holds a B.A. in Psychology and Social Work (summa cum laude, 1993) from Southwest Minnesota State University, as well as M.S. and Ph.D. degrees (1996, 1998) in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Dr. Toussaint's research on the effects of forgiveness on physical and mental health has been published in a number of academic journals and is featured in several major media outlets.
