Machaca Summer Camp Program in Belize

DRC Sponsor: Don Holmertz

Decorah Rotary Club member and Magpie Coffeehouse owner Kathleen Ritner will be providing our club with insights into a Machaca Summer Camp experience in Punta Gorda, Belize and other information describing the region. Punta Gorda is the southermost town in Belize, and the capital of the Toledo District. Originally founded as Peini by the Garifuna it is today home to over 5,000 people from the many different ethnic groups found in the area.

The Machaca Summer Camp Program, under the auspices of Kabod International, has been hosting camp for over thirty years. The Program ministers to campers from ages 7 - 20, as well as children and adults with developmental and physical disabilities.
