Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA)

DRC Sponsor: Kim Bonnet

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is an intensive leadership experience organized by Rotary clubs and districts where young adults develop leadership skills while having fun and making connections. The participants build communication and problem-solving skills; discover strategies for becoming a dynamic leader in their respective school or community; learn from community leaders, inspirational speakers, and peer mentors; unlock their potential to turn motivation into action; and have fun and form lasting friendships.

Elise Wilson is a rising sophomore at Luther College and a recent participant of RYLA hosted at Coe College in Cedar Rapids. She has been involved with RYLA since 2018 and served as a Team Leader in 2019 and again this year. Elise is a passionate advocate for RYLA and gives a great deal of credit to her local, hometown Rotary Club for sponsoring her particiation. She will be offering us her first-hand account of her life-changing experiences at RYLA and will provide our members with a better understanding of the important role our Club can play in RYLA and in supporting our local youth.
