New Archaeology Project in Caesarea, Israel

Professor Dan Davis, Head of the Classics Department at Luther College, teaches courses in the archaeology of ancient Rome and ancient Greece, Greek, and Latin mythology and classical history. He received his BA Degree from the University of Iowa, his Master's Degree from Texas A&M University, and his Doctoral Degree from the University of Texas at Austin. An active scholar and leader of archaeological projects, Professor Davis is the author of many peer-reviewed articles and is currently writing two books. His research interests focus on marine archaeology, ship technology, ancient harbors, classical archaeology, maritime trade and seafaring.

Professor Davis will speak to our club about his new, multi-year archaeology project located in Caesarea, Israel. The Roman port town of Caesarea was built by Herod the Great in the 1st Century B.C.
