John Baker and Walter Langland
Eastern Iowa Honor Flight

DRC Sponsor: John Baker

Fellow Rotarians John Baker and Walt Langland will share personal experiences and insights associated with their participation in the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight Program. Both gentlemen had the pleasure of joining Honor Flights to Washington, DC -- John in the summer of 2015 and Walt just a few months ago. The Eastern Iowa Honor Flight is a non-profit organization dedicated to sending local Veterans to Washington DC to visit various historical sites and war memorials. These memorials include the WWII Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, USMC Memorial, USAF Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery.  The WWII Veterans are also taken on a city tour where they are able to see the Smithsonian, Capitol, White House and various other historical buildings. Since Eastern Iowa Honor Flights began in 2009, they have served more than 1,500 Iowa veterans.
