Decorah Athletic Complex Status and Plans

Mike Harmon and Mark Holtley, members of the Decorah community involved in fundraising for the Decorah Athletic Complex project on behalf of the City of Decorah and Decorah Parks and Recreation, will provide an update on the project. They will address the ongoing planning of the project and the status of fundraising efforts, particularly apropos in light of recent local government decisions.

The vision for the Decorah Athletic Complex includes the construction of two 280’ ball fields with dugouts and scoreboards, eight pickleball courts, grading for two additional field areas, a 104-stall gravel parking lot with paved ADA accessible stalls and a convenient drop off area, a donor plaza and facility corridor, a bike parking area, a water infiltration basin and mesic prairie with a mowed trail extension. The proposed location is along Old Stage Road and adjacent to the Freeport Trail and the Decorah Dog Park, which will remain in its existing location. The complex has been designed to meet the needs of a wide range of users and provide facilities that will serve the Decorah and surrounding communities for generations.
