The Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP)

Decorah resident Jim Sims is a volunteer counselor for the Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP). He is very knowledgeable and passionate about his work with SHIIP and will join us to offer our members more information about SHIIP and its value to the community.

SHIIP is a free, objective and confidential service created in 1999 and offered through the state of Iowa to help people sort through confusing information about Medicare and health insurance. Trained and certified volunteer counselors assist thousands of Iowans annually, helping them save millions of dollars. SHIIP counselors are trained by the state and do not sell or promote any insurance companies, policies, or agents. Local SHIIP volunteer counselors are able to answer questions and provide one-on-one help.
